De hekkesluiter van deze Top 50 is het mooie Miss America van Don Rosenbaum. Je hoort in deze Top 50 de singleversie en niet de CD versie. Op de CD versie ontbreken hier en daar wat instrumenten. Er is zelfs een Toppop opname van dit nummer, een stukje daarvan staat op youtube : http://youtu.be/A53Tdy9t-5w Student demonstration time komt nieuw binnen op nummer 41, klinkt totaal niet als een Beach Boys plaat. En ook Jonathan King “in disguise” komt nieuw binnen in deze Top 50 en wel op nummer 34 onder de schuilnaam The Piglets met Johnny Reggae. De Chicklets hebben daar ook een Nederlandstalige versie van opgenomen. De hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer is Theme from Shaft van Isaac Hayes op nummer 29. Ook een schitterend nummer. Old Shatterhand maakt z’n debut als een van de twee treiterschijven deze week met Chief of the Apache. De enige twee bekende kanskaarten zijn van het Driemaster team en Ferry Maat.

Tony Berk is on the early programme from 6.00, followed by Peter Holland at 10.00. There is a special programme at the start of the International Service at 18.00, in which Rob Eden and Leo van der Goot discuss Christmas customs in different countries, as it is St Nicholas Day tomorrow. Reception during the World Service on shortwave is poor, but reception on medium wave during the International Service is very good.

The programme featuring Terry Davis and Leo van der Goot is another bi-lingual special for St Nicholas Day, replacing the usual In Concert programme. Two mobile discotheque shows are advertised for today, both featuring Brian McKenzie and Tony Berk.

RNI appear to have lost trace of Paul May - Dave Rogers said in the Top 20 Show "We don't know where you are, but here's your hitpick." Quote of the day also comes from Dave Rogers, who said, when playing Peter Noone's "Right on mother", "Well, it beats writing on loo walls".

News on the International Service is read by Rob Eden and Terry Davis.

The Brian McKenzie programme on the World Service must have been recorded, as Brian was on shore leave that weekend. Quite often DJs would record programmes for broadcasting when they were on shore leave on the World Service, which was broadcast on the shortwave transmitters on Sundays (from 7.00 to 18.00 in late 1971), whilst the medium wave and FM transmitters carried the Dutch Service.
